Art of the Title

The 5 title sequences I have chosen may be used as inspiration for our groups opening sequences. Spent of them I have chosen may not relate completely to our idea but I find parts of the items sequence interesting.

I have chosen 'The Night Of' due to the eerie and mysterious atmosphere if creates. I think that this title sequence is able to achieve that by adding in subtle images such as the blood on the floor or wall. As the blood isn't to bright and matches the darkness of the sequence it creates a mysterious atmosphere without being too bold.

My second choice is 'Beyond Clueless' as it includes a teenagers daily routine. This will be useful for our group since our idea consists of the second half being a girls daily routine. Our aim is to get the daily routine as natural as possible so small details such as music playing from a radio would help us achieve this.

Although 'Z For Zachariah' many not follow our idea I really like the way how the text appears on the screen. It isn't just placed on like some but appears in a really cool way. Not only is the transition of the text interesting but also the layout is something that we could include in our opening.

'Red Lights' is also a title sequence that is jot only very mysterious but also suspenseful. One of the main reasons why I have chosen too include this as inspiration for our opening is because of the audio that is used. The audio used creates a very suspense feeling which would be a good type of atmosphere for out opening as we have a girl with blood lying on the floor. However this audio dies become a bit overpowering in my opinion so for our groups opening I wouldn't have it so overpowering.
Finished Prelim

Here is our final piece.

Although i wasn't there to help out with the editing i saw that Morgan and Alisha made the last frame black and white. They also added sad music and 'Please Donate Now' to make it more dramatic.
Filming our Prelim

In this picture we are in the middle of filming our preliminary. We wee the first group to perform so it was a slightly but nervous but after being up for about 5 mins I think we gained a lot more confidence. We had to name each one of our scenes so that when it came to editing our preliminary we were able to identify which clips we needed and which ones we didn't need. I think our group worked really well and we're able to complete the the prelim, ready to be edited.

We also had a storyboard that we made, which would help us on which shots to use. However we didn't shoot each frame in order. We shot them according to where the camera was. Since both shot 2 and 5 were in the same angle, we decided to shoot them at the same time as moving the camera may have disrupted each shot.

There were a few shots where they didn't go as accorded. In shot 1 my head was cut off so we had to repeat it again so that my head wouldn't be cut off and in shot 4 we eneded up laughing so we had to do a second take.

We also used the surrounding so to our advantage as for shot 7 we needed the scene to be really dramatic. We achieved this by turning of the lights and having a torch shone on Alicia's face. The blinds were also closed to make the room darker. However by doing this we broke the continuity of our prelim.

Different shots
Remember me - Storyboard
This was my storyboard that I created for the opening of BBC'S Remember me'. This was my first attempt so it was a bit rough but I was able to notice quite a few of the shots used, which are included in the storyboard, as well as sound and the effect it creates. I was also able to understand why a story board is used by many directors as a way to know exactly what needs to be filmed for how long and the shots needed.

Remember me - some really good camera shots with lots of suspense
